Class Policies Attendance/Grading: Your grade is based on your performance in completing the following specific requirements.
1. Attend ALL class sessions. Attendance is REQUIRED, not requested. An absence or tardiness will be excused for illness or personal emergency only. Do not plan to schedule dental/medical appointments that will interfere with your class schedule.
2. You are responsible for information dispensed during your absence: class notes, changes in assignments, special appointments, etc. Exchange contact information with a classmate to update yourself when you are unavoidably absent.
3. Have all assigned papers in hand at the beginning of class on the due date. On some occasions, you will hold the papers for further evaluation before submission. Participation: Plan to contribute positively to the lecture-discussion with the class as a whole or in small groups. At times your participation will end with evaluation of group members for their attention to task during group interaction.
Grades: Your grade is based on your proficiency of the California State Common Core Standards.
Grades will be computed according to the following parameters:
A 4.0 on most prioritized standards (where assessed) and 3.0 on some prioritized standards (not assessed)
A- 3.0 on all prioritized standards
B 2.0 on many prioritized standards
C 2.0 on all prioritized standards
D 2.0/3.0 on some prioritized standards, ND on some standards
F No Data on all prioritized standards
Academic Honesty: Each student must do his or her own work. If you are caught looking at a neighbor’s paper during an exam, copying homework answers, or engaging in any other form of academic dishonesty, firm disciplinary action will ensue. School administration and parents will surely be notified.
Plagiarism: Plagiarism is unacceptable and constitutes as academic dishonesty. Plagiarism is an intentional representation of the words or ideas of another as if they are your own. To avoid plagiarism, follow these guidelines:

- For borrowed facts or information obtained from your reading or research, acknowledge the source. Exceptions: borrowed facts which are common knowledge among students in this course need not be documented.
